Happy Easter!

Cheryl Hucks Interior Designs

Happy Easter to your house from mine!  I love decorating my dining table for Easter.  Many of my decorations on this table and in other areas in my home are gifts from  mother, grandmother and friends.  Two bunnies and chicks were my mother’s and my grandmother’s. I bought the beautiful egg plates at Pier One.  Love their Easter and Spring decor.

When my two and half year old granddaughter, Payton, helped me Easter decorate a few weeks ago, I gave her a few Easter decorations so that she can pass them down to her children. Dyeing Easter eggs and adding stickers was a fun grandmother and granddaughter  afternoon.  Her excitement  for  each egg she found during the egg hunt was contagious!

This year I purchased silk flowers for the  ceramic Easter planter. The wooden eggs on the right are place card holders.

Hope you have a great Easter with your family and friends!

Bring Spring Into Your Home

Are you ready for Spring? Let’s hope this cold winter will soon be over!  We are all looking forward to Spring and more time outdoors.  Last week I discussed ways to “Brighten Up Your Home for Spring” on Fox 8 Morning Show  in High Point, NC.  Here are a few ideas I shared with the Fox 8 morning news anchor, Cindi Farmer.

Rather than using Easter colors of pink, lavender and blue, I prefer yellow, green and coral color scheme that can be used for several months. My apple green plate with a glitter glaze and a pottery gold rooster plate created a blended table setting. You can purchase inexpensive wine glasses and hand paint tiny flowers. Adding  a ceramic green pear to my table setting also enhanced my color scheme. Hot glue silk flowers on a grape vine stem to create an inexpensive napkin ring with a Tommy Bahama patterned cotton napkin.

Don’t forget to bring Spring to your kitchen counters with spring flowers, bright dish towels and dishes.  I added a cute yellow finch to a spring wreath for my front door. Brighten up a bed or chair with a trendy burlap pillow. Here again, hot glue is the easiest way to add decorative flowers to pillows.

Until next week, stay warm and think Spring!
